Black Friday: Most Brazilian consumers do not intend to buy – survey
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – According to a survey by Reclame Aqui Institute, 53% of consumers do not intend to buy at all on Black Friday.
Among those who intend to make purchases, 72.6% of consumers say they are monitoring the price of items they intend to purchase. Of these, 25.4% have been planning their purchase for at least 6 months, 20.9% have been monitoring prices for 3 months, and 26.3% have been monitoring them for a month.

In this year’s Black Friday, which starts next week, most purchases will be made online: 41% of consumers prefer to buy online, directly from the brands’ websites, and 26.8% expect to buy through apps.
Another 5.4% intend to buy through the stores’ social media, 2.4% through WhatsApp and 1.9% in live commerces, Instagram live streams and special events that should take place with artists. Only 8.9% of consumers expect to buy in physical stores.
Two other pieces of data call attention: 63.9% will use credit cards to pay for their purchases and 19.9% will use a bank slip/debit card when buying. In addition, 12.1% of consumers migrated from a traditional bank to a digital one in preparation for Black Friday, 1.6% of consumers opened a bank account for the first time, and 2.5% applied for their first credit card.
