Tuesday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Casa da Matriz has resumed presenting weekly live rock ‘n’ roll in Botafogo on Tuesday nights with ‘Matriz Live Sessions.’
The weekly events, originally one of the first musical programs held at Casa da Matriz, were revived to showcase today’s up-and-coming rock bands whilst simultaneously providing tuesdays, which have never been a particularly popular party night, with something to get excited about.
With their multi-room layout, old-school arcade games, and small classic junk shop, this shabby-chic venue has the look and feel of a great house party. The reinvigorated live music policy promises to bring some killer shows to Botafogo.

Blues Night at Barzin (Ipanema)
Tuesday nights are all about the blues at Ipanema’s Barzin. The venue with it’s sophisticated atmosphere, great service and variety of drinks is the perfect place to relax and soak up the smooth and soulful sounds of the blues.

Today, the Leme lounge and restaurant, Espaço Ox, hosts the event ‘Splash’ from 2PM to 10PM. ‘Splash’ is a weekly Sunday party created by Polly Simões and Gustavo that returns – after taking a short break- today to celebrate the beautiful autumn days in Rio. DJs Pedro Piu and Ricardo Estrella, along with resident DJ Gustavo Tata, will spin as sushi and delicious drinks can be purchased and enjoyed while watching the sun set from the shore of Leme beach.
