Travel: Which airlines will fly to Argentina again?

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Emirates airline has announced that it will resume flights to Argentina from November 2. Then it will resume passenger service from Dubai to Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires, connecting both South American cities with the city in the United Arab Emirates.

The airline is among the companies that have ceased operations in the country as a result of the measures taken last year to curb covid variants. Of the airlines that have been eliminated, Ethiopian, Air Canada, SKY and British are back in service. Meanwhile, ITA, the continuation of Alitalia, will resume operations in June. Qatar has continued its cargo flights, but is rumored to be returning, and Gol and Azul continue to postpone their launch dates.

Emirates will initially operate four flights a week to Buenos Aires via Rio de Janeiro on its Boeing 777-300ERs, offering customers from Argentina and Brazil connectivity to popular business and leisure destinations in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. The flights between Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires will also promote intra-regional tourism and trade.

The company will begin daily service on the route on Feb. 1, 2023, offering customers more choice and flexibility in their travel plans.

Emirates flight EK 247 will depart Dubai at 08:05 local time and arrive in Rio de Janeiro at 15:25. The flight will depart the Brazilian city at 17:10 and arrive in Buenos Aires at 20:40 local time. Emirates flight EK 248 will depart Ezeiza at 22:20 and arrive in Rio de Janeiro at 01:10 the next day. It will depart Galeão Airport at 02:55 and arrive in Dubai at 23:35 the same day.

“The resumption of Emirates flights to Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro coincides with the start of the peak summer travel season in South America and the winter season in Dubai, a sought-after travel and business destination for travelers from Latin America. Argentine and Brazilian nationals can obtain visas upon arrival in Dubai, either en route to other cities or as a final destination,” the airline said in a statement.

The resumption of Emirates flights will also facilitate trade between Argentina, Brazil and the rest of the world through Emirates SkyCargo, the airline’s cargo division. Emirates’ wide-body Boeing 777-300ER aircraft provide cargo capacity of about 20 tons per flight to carry regional exports from Argentina and Brazil to consumers in the Middle East, Europe and other markets, while supporting imports of vital goods, including pharmaceuticals.

This operation expands Emirates’ route network in the Americas to 17 cities.
