Sean Paul, the Jamaican dancehall singer, plays three concerts in South Africa in December 2026. He starts at the Grand Arena, GrandWest in Cape Town on Thursday 3 December. He plays the SunBet Arena at Time Square in Pretoria on Friday 4 December. The tour ends at the Durban ICC on Sunday 6 December. Tickets cost from R750, about US$46, and are sold only through Blu Blood Tickets.

A Jamaican voice South Africa already knows

Sean Paul was born Sean Paul Ryan Francis Henriques in Kingston, Jamaica. He sings and raps in dancehall, a fast, digital offshoot of reggae.

His first album, Stage One, came out in 2000. His second, Dutty Rock, made him a global name in 2002.

Its single “Get Busy” reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, the main United States singles chart. “Temperature”, from his 2005 album The Trinity, did the same.

Dutty Rock also won the Grammy for Best Reggae Album at the 2004 awards, according to the Recording Academy. He also sang on “Baby Boy” with Beyoncé.

These songs still fill South African dance floors and car radios. The broadcaster EWN described the December dates as a return to the country.

Three cities in four nights

The tour was announced on 10 September 2026. It covers the three largest urban regions of South Africa, one night each.

The promoters are the live events company Blu Blood and Fire Water Earth Productions. Each city also has a local radio partner: KFM in Cape Town, 947 in Pretoria and East Coast Radio in Durban.

The running order is the same in every city. Doors open at 6 p.m., a local supporting act starts at 8 p.m., and Sean Paul is scheduled for 9 p.m.

The ticket seller lists each show as ending around 10:30 p.m. All times are South Africa Standard Time, two hours ahead of GMT. The organiser has not yet named the supporting acts.

Blu Blood told the newspaper TimesLIVE that about 30% of tickets sold within a day of the announcement. “The response has been really strong and positive,” said Monica Steyn, its head of communications.

Cape Town: a Thursday at GrandWest

The tour opens in Cape Town on Thursday 3 December. GrandWest is a casino and entertainment complex on Jakes Gerwel Drive in Goodwood, in the city’s northern suburbs.

Its owner, the hotel and casino group Sun International, puts it about 15 kilometres from the city centre. Cape Town International Airport is about 11 kilometres away.

The Grand Arena holds up to 5,000 people seated or 7,000 standing, according to Sun International. The complex sits between the N1 and N2 motorways.

This is the only Western Cape date. Seated ticket holders choose their exact seats on the arena plan when they buy.

Pretoria: a Friday at Time Square

The Pretoria show on Friday 4 December is the only date in Gauteng. Gauteng is the province that holds both Pretoria and Johannesburg.

Time Square is another Sun International complex, in the east of Pretoria opposite the Menlyn Maine district. Its SunBet Arena seats about 8,500 people.

The arena is cashless, so bring a bank card or a phone payment app. Secure parking costs R20, about US$1, according to Sun International.

Johannesburg is a short drive south on the N1 motorway. The organiser presents this as the one Gauteng night for fans from both cities.

Durban: the closing night at the ICC

The tour ends in Durban on Sunday 6 December. Durban is the main city of KwaZulu-Natal province, on the Indian Ocean coast.

The venue is the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre, known as the Durban ICC. It stands on Bram Fischer Road in the city centre.

The ICC usually hosts conferences, including the United Nations climate summit in 2011. It also hosts large concerts.

Durban is the only city with a different top price. Golden Circle standing costs R2,000 there, about US$122, against R1,750, about US$107, elsewhere.

Tickets, prices and resale

Blu Blood Tickets is the official and only ticket seller for the tour. Four ticket types are on sale in every city.

Silver Seated costs R750, about US$46. Gold Seated costs R950, about US$58. General Standing costs R1,500, about US$91.

Golden Circle Standing, the area closest to the stage, costs R1,750, about US$107, in Cape Town and Pretoria. In Durban it costs R2,000, about US$122.

The organiser warns that tickets from Viagogo or other unofficial resellers may be refused at the door, with no refund. All sales are final.

Conversions use a rate of about 16.4 rand to the US dollar on 1 October 2026. The final amount on a foreign card depends on the bank’s own exchange rate.

Age rules and what to leave at home

The concerts are open to all ages from 3 years. Every guest aged 3 or older needs their own ticket.

The two standing areas are for guests aged 12 and over who are at least 1.2 metres tall. Guests under 18 must stay with a parent or legal guardian.

The venues do not allow outside food or drinks, large bags, professional cameras, selfie sticks or glow sticks. Bags may be searched at the entrance.

Wheelchair users can ask Blu Blood Tickets for accessible seats and companion seats by WhatsApp or email before buying.

December in South Africa

December is early summer in South Africa and the start of the long holiday season. Durban, with its warm sea and long beaches, is a popular holiday city at this time of year.

The month is also busy for international concerts. The Rio Times has reported Kehlani’s arena shows in Pretoria on 15 December and Cape Town on 17 December.

For a newcomer, these nights are an easy way to see a large, mixed South African crowd at play. Plan the ride home before the show, since public transport is limited late at night.

Ride-hailing apps such as Uber and Bolt work in all three cities. With that settled, the only plan left is to listen for the first bars of “Get Busy”.
