Project Promotes Free Trips to Rio Downtown’s Historic Museums
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – From next Saturday, October 19th, Rio de Janeiro residents and tourists will have the opportunity to get to know the different historical and cultural circuits of the Praça XV region, in downtown Rio, through the project ‘Caminhos do Brasil-Memória’ (“Brazil Memories’ Pathways”).
The initiative is a partnership between the Cultural Center of the Museum of Justice (CCMJ) and ten other museums in the city and offers a passport that gives its bearer free of charge visits to the participating institutions.
The aim of the action is to open the eyes of those who live in the city to the various historical events of the ‘Praça XV’ region and its surroundings, promoting an interesting and free walk that can be done safely by people of all ages.
In an itinerary permeated by the history of Brazil and Rio de Janeiro the tour will visit CCMJ, Palácio Tiradentes, Paço Imperial, Museu Naval, Instituto Histórico-Cultural da Aeronáutica (INCAER), Centro Cultural Correios (CCC), Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (CCBB), Casa França-Brasil, Igreja Santa Cruz dos Militares, Museu da Imagem e do Som (MIS) and Museu Histórico Nacional (MHN).
The official presentation and launch of the project will be on Saturday, October 19th at 10 AM, in Rio’s Legislative Assembly (ALERJ).
After each visit, the passport holder should ask to have it stamped by institution visited. When all of the document’s sections are filled in, the bearer will be entitled to live a marine experience on the Bauru Museum Ship; the Riachuelo Submarine Museum; the Discoveries Ship; the King of the Seas helicopter and the Cascavel fighter car, attractions of the Navy’s Cultural Space. Holders will also be entitled to a 50 percent discount at AquaRio and the parking lot of the Garagem Menezes Côrtes building on weekends.
The project also has the partnership of the City of Rio and the State Government through different bodies such as Comlurb, CET-Rio, RioLuz, City Guard, Present Center, State Police and Superintendence of the Center.
