The leader of far-left Perú Libre, Vladimir Cerrón, has asserted that the president of Peru, Pedro Castillo, has no other option than to “dissolve Congress.”

This is in the face of an alleged attempt by Parliament to seek to make the president’s vacancy effective through a modification of the regulation that provides for this type of action from the Legislature.

“Congress plans to modify the rule to suspend the president with 66 votes, in addition to requesting a vacancy. The Executive would have no other way than to close Congress for survival. Are they at the point of no return?” The ultra-leftist politician specified.

In addition, the former governor of Junín has suggested that the path that Castillo must take is to eventually solve the political crisis in the South American country by calling for a National Constituent Assembly, which would be approved by popular referendum.

“The denial of the popular referendum by the congressional right is synonymous with its announced great loss in the popular consultation. The path is correct, the people are going for a system change that favors the dispossessed classes and ends the privileges of others,” Cerrón pointed out.
