Peru allocates nearly US$260 million to build ships in its 2023 Procurement Plan

The General Command of the Peruvian Navy approved last March the second change to its Annual Procurement Plan (PAC) for the fiscal year 2023 through Resolution of the General Command of the Navy No. 0191-23-Comgemar dated March 31, 2023.

It highlights the naval construction projects the Peruvian Navy undertakes in association with SIMA Peru.

The PAC contains the requirements of the different executing sub-units of the Peruvian armed institute, registered in the Navy’s Procurement and Contracting System (Siacomar).

The plan specifically contemplates the construction of:

• An Ocean Patrol Vessel, a project allocated with US$166,203,639 at the current exchange rate against the sol.
• two PGCP-50 Maritime Patrol Vessels with a budget of some US$52,757,248.61;
• and two Cabotage Vessels, with a budget of US$39,288,831.

These other budget items of the PAC 2023 of the Peruvian Navy also stand out:

– Acquisition of spare parts and accessories for mechanical engineering, weapons system, and communications of the submarine BAP Arica (US$21,485), although it does not contemplate the decommissioning of the submarine BAP Arica in 2023, as had been foreseen years ago.

– Acquisition of 24-hour field rations (US$268,532).

– Acquisition of 9×19 mm caliber pistols for the Special Operations Force (FOES) (US$11,118).

– Acquisition of sleeves for maintenance of the main engine of the submarine BAP Angamos (US$21,485). Other elements have been acquired for the maintenance of this submarine.

– Acquisition of anti-riot equipment for the Naval Police Detachment of the First Naval Zone (US$29,485).

– Update of the technical file of the investment project for the expansion and improvement of the services of the shipyard of the Naval Arsenal of the Peruvian Navy at the Callao Naval Base (US$179,998).

– Preventive and corrective maintenance service for light and heavy fleet land vehicles (US$80,568).

– Acquisition of variable frequency drive panel for the power cabinets of the 40×70 mm naval guns of the Lupo frigates.

– Acquisition of sails for the training ship BAP Unión (US$77,922).

– Inspection and diagnostic service for the Goalkeeper CIWS system installed on board the fast supply ship BAP Tacna (US$312,000).

– Acquisition of spare parts for the integral maintenance of the diesel alternators cooling system of the frigate BAP Aguirre (US$13,965).

– Acquisition of spare parts for the propulsion system of the BAP Unión (US$28,827).

– Acquisition of light fleet vehicles for the Navy (US$2,045,073).

– Acquisition of spare parts to correct maintenance reports for the Fokker F-50 and F-60 aircraft (US$79,345.75).

– Acquisition of rescue winch cable for UH-3H Sea King helicopters (US$26,856.

– Maintenance service of electronic and electrical equipment for AB-412 ASW naval helicopters (US$26,856).

– Acquisition of main rotor blades for Enstrom F-28-F helicopter (US$107,423).

– Construction of an Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) (US$165,673,739).

– Acquisition of spare parts to correct maintenance reports for the Beechcraft B-200 maritime patrol aircraft (US$99,186.90).

– Acquisition of tide stations with transmission system (US$34,966).

– Construction of two PGCP-50 maritime patrol boats (US$5,260,570).

– Acquisition of survival equipment for the Naval Aviation Force (US$20,713).

– Acquisition of spare parts for Bell 206 helicopter (US$60,102.30).

– Construction of two coastal vessels (Coastal Auxiliary Units) (US$39,197,245).

– Acquisition of parachutes and accessories for the Special Operations Force (FOES) (US$1,994,996).

– Acquisition of closed circuit diving equipment for the FOES (US$832,531.35).

– Acquisition of supplies to improve the rancho (food) for naval personnel (US$1,211,013).

– Acquisition of inflatable semi-rigid hull boats (RHIB) and davits for lowering and raising these boats for the second Multipurpose Ship, BAP Paita (US$1,879,910).

– Acquisition of equipment for BAP Paita vehicles (US$322,270).

– Acquisition of life rafts for the BAP Paita (US$113,318.26).

– Acquisition of spare parts for amphibious vehicles LAV II (US$93,995.47).

– Acquisition of spare parts for 32 MAN TGS military traction trucks (US$80,567.55).

– Acquisition of small caliber ammunition and explosives (US$31,936.98).

– Acquisition of spare parts for AN-32B transport aircraft (US$50,000).

– Maintenance service for the main engines, transmission boxes, and generator sets of the maritime patrol boats PGCP-50 (Pativilca River Class) (US$746,592.63).

– Acquisition and installation of four marine engines for coastal patrol boats (US$214,846.80).

– Procurement and provisioning service for the BAP Pisco and BAP Aguirre during the multinational exercise UNITAS LXIV “Disaster and Emergency Response Colombia 2023” and deployment of the BAP Pisco to the port of Rota, Spain (US$534,424.97), to bring back the Sea King helicopters acquired from this country.

– Acquisition of spare parts for the azimuth thrusters of the oceanographic vessel BAP Carrasco (US$225,589.14) and the tunnel thruster of the same vessel (US$266,141.47).
