Mexico’s biggest shopping event starts in less than two weeks, and its sponsors expect the slowest growth in years. Our El Buen Fin updates hub follows every step, and this guide sets out the dates, the forecast and the lottery for US readers.
Five Days Starting Friday
El Buen Fin, Mexico’s annual discount programme coordinated by the Economy Ministry with the private sector, runs for its 16th edition from Friday, Nov. 13, to Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2026. Last year’s edition ran Thursday to Monday, also five days, so this year the window moves to Friday through Tuesday.
The window takes in Revolution Day, the holiday that marks the start of Mexico’s 1910 revolution. Under Mexico’s Federal Labor Law it is observed on Monday, Nov. 16 this year. Schools are also closed that day, which creates a long weekend.
The programme covers physical shops, websites and other sales channels nationwide, so it has no single venue. Participating sectors include restaurants, department stores, electronics, tourism and education.

Business Chamber Projects Slower Growth
Concanaco Servytur, the national confederation of chambers of commerce, services and tourism, forecasts an economic spillover of 235 billion pesos (US$12.5 billion). That is about 7% above the 219.2 billion pesos (US$11.7 billion) it reports for 2025, which itself was 26.1% above 2024’s 173.8 billion pesos (US$9.3 billion). We convert all pesos at 18.7856 per US dollar, the rate on the day of writing.
Octavio de la Torre, the confederation’s president, said about 49 billion pesos (US$2.6 billion), or 21%, would come from online sales. Around 186 billion pesos (US$9.9 billion), or 79%, is expected to stay in physical stores, with more than 200,000 businesses taking part.
Fashion is expected to lead shoppers’ intentions at 38%, followed by electronics at 30%, personal care at 27%, appliances at 24% and cell phones at 21%. These shares come from the Concanaco forecast.
Tax Agency Lottery and Price Checks
The SAT, Servicio de Administración Tributaria, Mexico’s federal tax authority, runs a lottery with a 500 million peso (US$26.6 million) pool to encourage electronic payments. Of that sum, 400 million pesos (US$21.3 million) is for consumers and 100 million pesos (US$5.3 million) for registered businesses.
Card purchases of at least 250 pesos (about US$13) at registered businesses between Nov. 13 and Nov. 17 enter automatically, and shoppers need not register. The consumer top prize is up to 250,000 pesos (US$13,300), and 321,260 smaller prizes range from 500 to 20,000 pesos (US$27 to US$1,065).
Profeco, the federal consumer protection agency, offers a Quién es Quién en los Precios tool at elbuenfin.profeco.gob.mx. It covers eight product categories (audio, cameras, kitchen, computing and mobile devices, home appliances, large appliances, TV and video, and ventilation), and it shows minimum, maximum and average prices and each product’s price history.
Dates to Watch
Business registration closes on Thursday, Nov. 12, and the list of participating registrations is due Nov. 27. Shoppers can check by card number from Friday, Nov. 27 whether a purchase qualifies for the lottery.
The draw is reported for Friday, Dec. 4, at noon in Mexico City, with a live broadcast. A winners list is due Dec. 7, and prizes are to be paid by early January 2027.
What It Means for US Readers
Official information is published at elbuenfin.org for participating businesses and at elbuenfin.profeco.gob.mx for price checks. Most of it is in Spanish, so US visitors should check prices in pesos before they compare.
Mexico City is one hour behind Eastern Time in December, so the Dec. 4 draw would start at 1 p.m. ET.
What Is Not Known
We have not found an official start hour for Nov. 13, and we have not opened the organiser, SAT or Profeco pages directly. The dates here come from press reports of official announcements.
Press reports give the draw as Dec. 4 at noon, but we have not seen the tax agency’s own rules for the 2026 draw.
We found no development dated Oct. 31 or Nov. 1, no named poll and no prediction-market odds on this topic. The Concanaco forecast is the only industry projection we have seen, and others, such as online-sales bodies, may publish different numbers.
