Lily Allen Performs in São Paulo and Dedicates her Single “Fuck You” to Bolsonaro

SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL – Ten years after her last visit to Brazil, Lily Allen returned to the 23rd Cultura Inglesa Festival, held on Sunday, 9th, at the Memorial da América Latina, in São Paulo.

The British singer did not shy away from political criticism, mentioning Jair Bolsonaro twice and closing the performance with the song “Fuck You”, from the album “It’s not me it’s you”, released in 2009, directed at the president of Brazil. The hit was originally written for the former president of the United States, George W. Bush.

“I wrote this song many years ago for George W. Bush, whom I thought was the worst thing that could happen. A decade later, I dedicate it to Donald Trump, but since we are in Brazil, and it is the month of LGBT Pride, I decided to dedicate it to its president. I hope I don’t get arrested when I come back to Brazil. Fuck you, Bolsonaro.”

Before that, to introduce the song “The Fear”, the singer once again referred to the Brazilian and U.S. presidents and said: “I saw this shit coming. I’m scared.”

The songs from the album “No Shame”, released in 2018, the artist’s fourth studio album, filled the singer’s repertoire.
