Jeep owner to create technology for ethanol hybrid electric car in Brazil
Stellantis, the owner of brands such as Fiat, Jeep, and Citroën, hopes to develop in Brazil the first technologies necessary for producing ethanol hybrid electric vehicles in the country.
Antonio Filosa, the company’s president for South America, announced the project on Tuesday.
According to the executive, the first technologies for ethanol hybrid electric vehicles will be developed by the end of this year.

No details were disclosed, however, about when the first model with this technology will reach the market.
“We started the Bio-Electro project last year, and now, in several stages, we will work internally to have the first technologies developed in-house by the end of this year and launch them to the market when the time is right,” Filosa said.
He commented that the epicenter of the project would be the state of Minas Gerais.
“The competencies we want to realize are in the 1,500 engineers we have here,” he stated.
In South America, Stellantis has three plants in Brazil, two in Argentina, and an industrial partnership in Uruguay.
The company intends to launch dozens of new models in the region by 2025.
The investments foreseen in this plan involve R$16 billion.
Around the globe, the company controls the brands Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, DS, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Opel, Peugeot, Ram, and Vauxhall.
