Covid-19: Brazil Records 1,212 Deaths, 52,383 Cases in Past 24 Hours (July 31st)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil has reached 92,475 deaths from the Covid-19 pandemic. There are still 3,529 deaths being evaluated. The data are from the Ministry of Health’s daily report released yesterday, July 31st. The body received 1,212 new records from state Secretariats in the past 24 hours.

The balance shows 2,662,485 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus. In the past 24 hours alone, there were 52,383 notifications.

Also according to the Ministry of Health’s daily update, there are 725,959 patients under follow-up. To date, 1,844,051 people have recovered from Covid-19, that is, 69.3 percent of infected patients have recovered from the disease.

The lethality rate (number of deaths by the total of cases) stood at 3.5 percent. The mortality rate (number of deaths per 100,000 inhabitants) reached 44. The incidence of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants stands at 1,267.

Covid-19 in the states

The states with the highest death toll from Covid-19 are São Paulo (22,997), Rio de Janeiro (13,477), Ceará (7,668), Pernambuco (6,557), and Pará (5,728).

The states with the fewest deaths caused by the pandemic are Mato Grosso do Sul (376), Tocantins (381), Roraima (505), Acre (531), and Amapá (565).

In terms of confirmed cases, São Paulo leads (542,304), followed by Ceará (173,882), Bahia (166,154), Rio de Janeiro (165,495), and Pará (154,685). Bahia passed Rio de Janeiro in third position.

The states with the fewest infections to date are Acre (19,625), Tocantins (24,824), Mato Grosso do Sul (24,936), Roraima (32,016), and Amapá (36,468), all among the least populous in Brazil.
