Brazil’s GDP Climbs 0.6 Percent in Quarter Ended in August, says FGV
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the sum of all goods and services produced in the country, increased by 0.6 percent in the quarter ended in August this year, as compared to the quarter ended in May.
Compared to the quarter ended in August of last year, however, GDP dropped by 0.3 percent.

Considering only the month of August, the GDP increased 0.9 percent when compared to July of this year, and 0.2 percent in relation to August 2018.
The 0.6 percent increase in the quarter ended in August compared to the quarter ended in May results from growth in three productive sectors: services (0.4 percent), industry (0.2 percent) and agriculture and ranching (2.4 percent).
With regard to demand, there was also a three percent increase in gross fixed capital formation, i.e. investments, and a 0.7 percent increase in household consumption.
Government consumption retreated by 0.1 percent and exports fell by 5.2 percent, while imports grew 2.9 percent.
