Brazilian Army mobilized 960 soldiers to dismantle protesters camp at Brasília HQ
The Brazilian Army mobilized around 960 men to remove protesters camped in front of the General Headquarters in Brasília. Protesters had been in place for over 60 days.
On the night of this Sunday (8), commander Júlio César de Arruda received at the HQ the ministers of Defense, José Múcio Monteiro, of Justice, Flávio Dino (PSB) and of the Civil House, Rui Costa (PT), being defined that the Army would take coordinated action with the Military Police (PM) to remove the camp.
The camp in front of the Army Headquarters in Brasilia began to be dismantled by the Military Police around 9 am this Monday (9). Earlier, at 8:00 am, the police gave the campers a period of one hour for them to voluntarily leave the place, and that way they would not be arrested.
Despite this, according to preliminary information, more than 1200 people have already been detained by the police during the action at the HQ.
Thousands of people were camped at the site for more than two months, since the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) announced Lula da Silva as the winner.
The people who were arrested are being taken to the Federal Police Superintendence in a coordinated action between the Army and the Military Police. The intention is to find out who participated in the protest on Sunday, which resulted in the destruction of the headquarters of the Three Powers.
