Brazilian Spring demonstrators invade Congress, the Planalto and the STF in Brasília – Update 1
(Story in development)
Brazilian Spring demonstrators opposed to the election of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT, progressive-globalist) because they believe the whole thing was rigged, broke through police barriers erected on the Esplanade of Ministries this Sunday afternoon (Jan. 8).
They managed to invade the National Congress, the Planalto Palace, and the Supreme Court (STF).
The Legislative headquarters was the first to be invaded. They also went up the ramp and took over the cupolas of the House and Senate.
After the protesters arrived at the Congress, another group headed for the Planalto Palace. Others also invaded the plenary of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).

Police are trying to disperse the demonstrators in front of the Court.
During the occupation of the cover of the Congress, the shock troops tried, unsuccessfully, to contain the advance of the demonstrators. The police reacted with tear gas canisters.
The group left the Army headquarters in the early afternoon and made its way to the Esplanade of the Ministries, which was closed throughout the day for vehicle access.
They walked a little more than seven kilometers under a light rain while shouting slogans such as “God, Homeland, family and freedom” (which was former president Jair Bolsonaro’s campaign slogan) and “The Supreme Power is the people.”

There was also criticism against President Lula and the press.
The Esplanade of the Ministries was closed on Saturday night (Jan. 7) after the intelligence services identified the possibility of protest amid the arrival of more than 80 buses from various regions of the country with protesters.
Images released on social networks show acts of vandalism inside the headquarters of the Three Branches, with broken glass panes, invaded offices, and depredated furniture. The Senate plenary was also invaded by pro-Bolsonaro protesters.

After arriving at the National Congress, part of the group went towards the Planalto Palace. The police officers guarding the Executive headquarters could not restrain the demonstrators, who approached the ramp of the palace.
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT, progressive-globalist), dispatching from the Planalto, is in Araraquara, in the interior of São Paulo, on a visit to assess the damage caused by the heavy rains.
The Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino, is at the folder’s headquarters on the esplanade.
“This absurd attempt to impose the will by force will not prevail. The Federal District Government says that there will be reinforcements. And the forces we have been acting,” said Dino Minister of Justice called on the National Force.
