International tourism in Mexico grows 11.5% year-on-year in August

International tourists who visited Mexico totaled more than three million people in August 2022, which represents a year-on-year increase of 11.5%, reported the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).

“In August 2022, 5,294,067 visitors entered the country. Of these, 3,092,624 were international tourists [female travelers residing abroad who spend the night in Mexico]”, a year-on-year increase of 11.5%, the results indicate. of the surveys conducted by the agency.

In the eighth month of last year, an income of 2,773,108 tourists was reported and for August 2020 -the first year of the coronavirus pandemic-, a total of 1,347,863, details the official report.

The results are based on surveys of international travelers that reveal the number of international visitors who entered and left the country by air and land, as well as their expenses.
