RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In a symbolic vote, it was approved on April 12, the Project of Legislative Decree (PDL) 86/2020, which ratifies the cooperation agreement between Brazil and Angola in defense, signed in Brasilia in 2010. The matter goes to promulgation.

Senator Chico Rodrigues (DEM-RR) reported that the international agreement would govern this cooperation in military intelligence, military equipment and systems, science and technology of military interest, logistical support, and defense products and services procurement.

The agreement also regulates mutual visits of high-level delegations to civilian and military entities, training of military and technical personnel, exchange of instructors and students, promotion of joint military training and instruction actions, and joint military exercises.

“It also deals with consultancies in the field of armaments and military technique; implementation and development of programs and projects for the application of Defense technology, with the possibility of the participation of military entities of strategic level. And the supply, repair, and modernization of weapons and military technology, and visits to warships and military aircraft. It is an agreement that is part of the African priority of Brazilian foreign policy”, explains the senator in his opinion.
