Brazil Liberal Party confirms deferral of Bolsonaro’s affiliation

President Jair Bolsonaro's affiliation ceremony to the PL (Liberal Party) will no longer be held on November 22, the party announced Sunday. Its leadership added that it is considering other dates for the event.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - According to the note released by the party's national board, PL chairman Valdemar Costa Neto sent a statement to party members clarifying that the decision "resulted from an intense message exchange in the early hours of Sunday, November 14, with President Jair Bolsonaro."

The decision was taken "by mutual agreement" between Bolsonaro and the PL chairman, the statement added.

There were still disagreements between Bolsonaro's political group and the PL over the composition of the slate for next year's gubernatorial election in São Paulo.
