Brazil’s Congress defers session to vote on changes to secret budget

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The presidency of the National Congress deferred the session scheduled for this Friday (26) to vote on the draft resolution that will set new rules on the allocation of parliamentary riders to the federal budget. The extraordinary meeting was rescheduled on Thursday night for next Monday, November 29.

According to Congress president Rodrigo Pacheco, the aim of the bill is to provide transparency to the system of presentation, approval, and execution of amendments from the general rapporteur, in the so-called secret budget.

The bill changes the draft to authorize the general rapporteur to present amendments . . .
