Brazil’s Bolsonaro appoints Victor Godoy Veiga as new education minister

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - President Jair Bolsonaro has confirmed Victor Godoy Veiga as the new education minister. He had held the post since late March on an interim basis after Milton Ribeiro resigned over allegations of corruption in his portfolio.

The appointment was published in the Official Gazette of the Union, Monday 18 edition.

Veiga most recently served as executive secretary of the MEC (Ministry of Education). Before that, he served as a federal auditor for finance and control of the Office of the Comptroller General (CGU) from 2004 to 2020.
