Brazil: Lula is vaccinated by Alckmin to launch the national immunization campaign

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) took the fifth dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 on Monday (27) at the launch of the national immunization campaign.

The vice-president, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), a doctor, vaccinated President Lula.

Health Minister Nísia Trindade, and First Lady Rosângela Silva, aka Janja, also attended the event held at a health center in Guará, in Brasília.

The President took Pfizer’s bivalent vaccine.

The bivalent vaccine is recommended as a booster dose for those who have received at least two doses against the disease from any laboratory four months or more ago.

The booster protects against the original virus and its variants, including Omicron, reported Agência Brasil.

In this campaign’s first stage, immunization against Covid-19 will be reinforced for priority groups throughout the country, such as the elderly and immunocompromised people.

Lula appealed to the population to get vaccinated.

“From now on, when you see a warning on TV, on the radio, on the internet, that they are giving vaccines in your city, for God’s sake, don’t be irresponsible; if you have the vaccine, go there to get the vaccine. Because it’s the only guarantee that you won’t die for lack of responsibility”, said the President.

Besides the vaccine against Covid, the campaign “Vaccine is life. Vaccine is for everyone” includes other immunizers from the National Vaccination Calendar.

Also participating in the event were the Minister of General Secretary, Márcio Macedo, Senator Nelsinho Trad (PSD-MS), and the governor of DF, Celina Leão (PP).

“You may not like the President, but you should like and care for your family. So, vaccinate. It is a gesture of responsibility,” Lula said on social networks.
