Brazil develops loitering ammunition for the largest drone in the world
Stella Tecnologia, a company specializing in developing Defense technology, surprised the market by announcing the creation of loitering ammunition for the Atobá drone.
The Atobá drone is the largest ever produced in Latin America and will be equipped with loitering munitions.
The drone can execute attack missions by means of eight small suicide bombs developed by Stella Tecnologia, installed in four hard points on each wing.
The suicide munitions have a cross-section in the casing, a diamond-shaped tip, and four retractable half-wings with a long chord, ensuring support and maneuverability until impact with the target on the ground.
In addition to the above, two warheads will be made available, one of four and one of seven kilograms.
Each prowler munition should weigh approximately 15 kg at launch, i.e., 60 kg per wing and 120 kg payload.
ATOBÁ DRONE
The Atobá drone, with a wingspan of 11 m, eight meters long, and 500 kg, could be used for surveillance missions with a capacity to carry 70 kg of payload and autonomy of up to 28 hours.
Kamikaze drones can be launched from multiple platforms, such as armored vehicles, attack drones, fighter jets, and warships.
