Argentina’s Bariloche may receive direct flights from Brazil again
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Bariloche with direct flights from Brazil may become a tourism reality again. The government of Argentina has changed the classification of the Teniente Luis Candelaria Airport. It is now part of what is called a safe corridor for the entry of international travelers into the country. With this classification, the city can start receiving planes from abroad. In 2019, there were regular direct flights from São Paulo to Bariloche.
It depends on agreements with Brazilian airlines Latam, Gol, or Azul. According to the Secretary of Tourism of Bariloche, Gastón Burlón, negotiations are already underway with airlines to bring Brazilians directly to the region in the coming winter season. Before the pandemic, Bariloche was a very popular destination for Brazilian travelers searching for snow, skiing, and snowboarding.
Since the reopening of the borders, Argentina has been relaxing the rules for entry into the country. It is betting on new flights from Brazilian cities to increase the number of tourists from Brazil. So far, 200,000 Brazilians have visited the country since October 2021; throughout 2019, 1.5 million travelers from here were there.

To enjoy the destination while the direct flight does not arrive, Aerolíneas Argentinas offers flights to Bariloche with a connection in Buenos Aires. In total, the airline has 63 roundtrip flights per week to the destination in Patagonia. In the first half of January, the Buenos Aires-Bariloche route was responsible for the highest demand among those operated by the company, with 40,700 passengers. Hotel occupancy reached 97% in the same month, according to Emprotur, responsible for promoting tourism in the region.
Outdoor activities in the summer allow you to enjoy the Patagonian landscape, with land and boat trips around the lakes. From February 23 to 28, the Craft Beer Festival takes place, with the participation of at least ten breweries, such as Berlina, Wesley, Manush, and Blest.
