Brazil: Lawyer denounces STF Justice Moraes for making it difficult to access files
After Justice Alexandre de Moraes, of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF), determined an operation against more than 100 people investigated for alleged anti-democratic acts, the lawyer of one of those involved denounced the minister for possibly hindering access to the process.
Adalberto Montoro Filho stated that he faces a series of obstructions in the search for details of the case, noting that the Federal Police did not know how to inform the inquiry number, asking the defender to look for the STF to seek clarification.

The lawyer also highlighted that he was instructed not to direct the judicial protocol to the Court, as is customary, but to Moraes’ office.
Numerous lawyers have already criticized the restriction of professional freedoms when dealing with cases in the hands of Justice Moraes. In November, 10 OAB (Brazilian lawyers association) representatives sent a document to the STF disapproving Moraes’ conduct and listing the magistrate’s modus operandi.
