Argentina: Parallel dollar climbs over 6% in a single day
The quotation of the dollar in Argentina’s parallel market reported today, Thursday, a new 6.3% increase in a single day, reaffirming the upward trend it has been registering since the beginning of July.
The “blue dollar” closed the financial day at ARS 337 per unit compared to ARS 317 the previous day, accumulating a price increase of 41.5% in July alone.
Meanwhile, in the official market, the U.S. currency traded at ARS 136.32 per US$1 for retail sale to the public, according to data from the Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA).

The difference between the official and informal dollar quotes reached 147% on Thursday.
Local media highlighted the intervention of the Central Bank in the exchange market with sales of US$50 million to contain the demand for foreign currency.
The rise of the U.S. currency began to be registered on July 3 after the resignation of the former Minister of Economy, Martín Guzmán, and the subsequent appointment of Silvina Batakis as the new head of the economic portfolio.
The substantial rise of the dollar takes place in a context of high inflation, which reached 36.9% in the first half of the year, restrictive measures regarding the allocation of foreign currency for imports, and the need for the Central Bank to strengthen its international reserves.
