The visit of General VanHerck further strengthened these ties and promoted shared military cooperation.

This marks General VanHerck’s second visit to Mexico since 2021. The US Northern Command, located at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is responsible for homeland defense and civil support missions.

The command deploys forces as directed by the president or secretary of defense when necessary.

Additionally, General VanHerck leads the North American Aerospace Defense Command (Norad), a binational command responsible for aerospace warning, aerospace control, and maritime warning for Canada, Alaska, and the continental United States.

The meetings between US and Mexican military officials aim to foster greater cooperation and coordination in the interest of mutual security.
