Rio Unveils Diverse New Year Celebrations

The city government of Rio de Janeiro recently announced a 12-minute fireworks display at Copacabana Beach as part of its New Year’s Eve celebrations.

For the first time, a live symphony orchestra will accompany this spectacle. The orchestra will perform on a stage right in front of the Copacabana Palace Hotel.

Moreover, Rio plans to delight residents and tourists with free concerts. These musical events will span 12 stages in 10 different areas of the city.

Two new locations, Praça Mauá in the port zone and Bangu in the west, are included this year.

Furthermore, Flamengo Beach will not be left out of the celebrations. It will feature its own fireworks display, enhanced by a vibrant light show.

Additional concerts will also occur in places like Sepetiba, Praia da Bica, and Parque Madureira. These shows will offer a variety of music genres, from samba and rock to funk.

In other news, the city also announced the organizations responsible for upcoming street carnivals.

SRCOM, an event agency, will manage the New Year’s Eve festivities. Meanwhile, Dream Factory will handle the street carnivals for the next three years, up to 2026.

Both companies will work hard to provide the necessary amenities. These include medical posts, waste collection stations, and well-organized traffic.

They aim to ensure that everyone enjoys a safe and entertaining celebration.

Last but not least, the city will make changes to samba school parade ticketing. Starting now, all tickets will be digital and available through the Rio Carnival app.

Apart from the parades, other carnival activities will also take place. These will include Terreirão do Samba performances and dances at various spots in the city.
