Covid-19: Paraguay removes all sanitary restrictions
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On Tuesday, February 22, the Government of Paraguay announced that it would lift all sanitary restrictions in force for almost two years to supposedly contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. However, it will maintain the requirement to wear a mask in closed places for a while.
Paraguay’s Chief of Cabinet, Hernán Huttemann, announced in a press conference the decision of the Paraguayan President, Mario Abdo Benítez, to cancel the decree imposing the sanitary measures.
As of Wednesday, February 23, there will be no more sanitary passes, limits on maximum capacity, the requirement to maintain spaces ventilated, or keep distance from other people.
According to Huttermann, COVID-19 is entering an endemic stage and will be treated like seasonal flu, so the Government’s efforts will focus on “encouraging vaccination“, as it encourages flu vaccination every year.
