More Latam Flights Connect South America and Australia

Latam Airlines will increase flights between Santiago, Chile, and Melbourne, Australia, from December 2023 to March 2025. This change boosts the current three weekly flights to four.

Starting December 1, the Santiago-Melbourne route will use a Boeing 787-9 on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

This expansion will allow Latam to transport approximately 37,000 passengers during the summer season. Among these, around 4,000 will travel to or from Brazil.

Brazilian travelers can reach Melbourne with a Santiago connection. The total travel time will be about 22 hours.

Departures will be from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, Florianópolis, Belo Horizonte, and Brasília.

New Flights Between Peru and Jamaica

Last month, Latam announced a new route between Lima, Peru, and Montego Bay, Jamaica, starting December 1.

Latam expects this route to serve around 45,000 passengers in the first year, including 4,000 traveling between Brazil and Jamaica.

Flights will operate on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays using Airbus A320 aircraft, accommodating over 170 passengers, and Airbus A319 aircraft, with about 140 seats.

In Brazil, these flights will mainly depart from Guarulhos Airport in São Paulo and Galeão Airport in Rio de Janeiro.

Connections will be through Lima, with an average travel time of 11 hours.

Resumption of Santiago to Sydney Flights

Additionally, Latam will resume its longest direct route on October 27, with flights between Santiago, Chile, and Sydney, Australia.

This 11,300-kilometer route will take about 15 hours, four hours less than the previous route with a stopover in Auckland, New Zealand.

Flights will be available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Latam expects to transport over 200,000 passengers annually on this route.
