Key Facts

  • The profit LWSA posted net profit of R$34.3 million (about US$6.6 million) in Q2 2026, up 117.1% year on year.
  • The base a year earlier profit was only about R$15.8 million, so a modest starting point flatters the percentage.
  • The revenue net revenue reached R$375.2 million (about US$72 million), up 8.2% on comparable terms.
  • The margin adjusted EBITDA hit a record R$102.5 million (nearly US$20 million), a 27.3% margin.
  • The driver the Commerce arm led the quarter, with revenue of R$276 million, up 12.4%.

The headline surge rides a small year-ago base, yet record margins and steady sales point to real gains underneath.

LWSA, the Brazilian cloud and e-commerce group also known as Locaweb, said Q2 2026 net profit jumped 117.1% from a year earlier. Profit reached R$34.3 million, or about US$6.6 million, and the company posted a record operating margin.

Still, the eye-catching percentage sits on a small year-ago base.

What LWSA reported

The company published its second-quarter results on August 14, 2026, after releasing the numbers the evening before. Net profit came in at R$34.3 million, up 117.1% from the same quarter of 2025.

That is the accounting profit, the bottom line after every cost and tax. In everyday terms, LWSA kept far more of its sales as profit than it did a year ago.

The company trades in São Paulo under the ticker LWSA3. Its shares move on how well small online businesses, its main customers, are faring.

Why the 117% figure needs context

A jump of 117% sounds enormous, and in part it is a trick of arithmetic. Profit a year earlier was only about R$15.8 million, so any gain looks large against that low starting point.

Because the base was small, a moderate rise in absolute reais becomes a huge percentage. So the honest read is real improvement, amplified by an easy comparison.

In cash terms the profit grew by under R$20 million year on year. That is a solid gain, though far less dramatic than the 117% label suggests.

A cleaner gauge of the gains

Analysts often prefer adjusted profit, which strips out one-off and non-cash items. On that basis LWSA earned R$65.7 million, up a steadier 48.7% from a year earlier.

That 48.7% is still strong, and it captures the underlying trend better. In short, the business improved solidly, even if the raw number oversells the leap.

Revenue and record margins

Net revenue reached R$375.2 million, about US$72 million, up 8.2% on a comparable basis. Meanwhile adjusted EBITDA, a rough proxy for operating cash earnings, rose 35.1% to R$102.5 million.

That lifted the adjusted margin to 27.3%, up 5.4 points and the highest in 24 quarters. As a result, profit climbed much faster than sales, a sign of tighter cost control.

It was also the first time the measure topped R$100 million in a single quarter. In short, each real of sales is now dropping more cash to the bottom line.

Cash generation improved too

Free cash flow after investment reached R$137.2 million in the first half, up 51.4%. Over the past twelve months it totalled R$271.4 million, close to a 15% margin.

The net financial result came in at R$15.4 million, better than a year earlier. So the company is not only more profitable on paper but generating stronger cash.

What drove the LWSA result

The Commerce division did the heavy lifting, with revenue of R$276 million, up 12.4%. Its subscription sales, the steady recurring kind, reached R$148.6 million, up about 14%.

Recurring revenue matters because it is more predictable than one-off sales. That steadier mix is part of why margins improved so sharply this quarter.

The older BeOnline hosting arm shrank slightly, as the firm steered clients toward newer, higher-margin products. So growth leaned on Commerce while the company pruned weaker lines.

An accounting change to watch

From this quarter, LWSA moved the cost of advancing customer receivables into service costs, out of the financial line. The full first-half effect, R$21.3 million, landed entirely in the second quarter.

The company says the shift does not change net profit or cash generation. Still, it explains why different outlets quote different EBITDA figures for the same quarter.

The point matters for anyone comparing the numbers across reports. Because the expense simply moved lines, the underlying economics are unchanged.

What it is and why it matters

Locaweb, listed as LWSA3 in São Paulo, sells web hosting, online-store tools and payment services to small businesses. In effect, it is the plumbing behind thousands of Brazilian shops and websites.

Its health is a useful read on how small firms are trading online. A profitable quarter suggests that corner of the economy is holding up.

The group has spent recent years buying smaller software firms and integrating them. Now the focus has shifted toward profit and cash rather than rapid expansion.

How investors may read the LWSA numbers

The market tends to reward margin gains and reliable recurring revenue, both on show here. Yet cautious investors will look past the 117% banner to the 48.7% adjusted figure.

Revenue growth of 8.2% is respectable rather than spectacular for a tech firm. So the story is one of steady discipline, not a sudden boom.

The record margin and stronger cash flow give management more room to invest or return money. Yet the market will want proof that sales can accelerate from here.

The bigger picture

Brazilian tech shares have had a bumpy few years amid high interest rates and cautious spending. Against that backdrop, a record margin and rising cash flow are welcome news.

The result also extends a recovery seen in recent quarters, when the firm returned to steady profit. For example, earlier reports already showed rising adjusted earnings and widening margins.

For now the company looks leaner and more profitable than a year ago. Whether it can keep growing sales at the same time is the next test.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much profit did LWSA make in Q2 2026?

LWSA reported net profit of R$34.3 million, about US$6.6 million, up 117.1% from the same quarter of 2025.

Why did profit rise 117%?

Partly real gains, partly arithmetic. The year-earlier profit was only about R$15.8 million, so a moderate rise becomes a large percentage.

What is a cleaner measure of the improvement?

Adjusted profit rose 48.7% to R$65.7 million. That figure strips out one-off items and better reflects the underlying trend.

What does Locaweb actually do?

It sells hosting, online-store tools and payments to small firms in Brazil. It trades on the B3 exchange under the ticker LWSA3.
