The US National Hurricane Center (NHC) said no coastal watches or warnings were in effect, and it asks people on Mexico’s southwestern and west-central coasts and the southern Baja California Peninsula to monitor Vance. Through Thursday it expects 2 to 4 inches (50 to 100 mm) of rain across central and southern Sinaloa, western Durango and northwestern Nayarit, with isolated totals up to 7 inches (180 mm) in central and southern Sinaloa.

That rain may cause flooding and mudslides on steep terrain. Swells are likely to bring life-threatening surf and rip currents to parts of Mexico’s southern, southwestern and west-central coasts for the next few days, so consult your local weather office.

08Frequently Asked Questions

How Far Did Brazil’s Real Recover on Tuesday?

The central bank’s official dollar rate fell to 5.3346 reais on Tuesday from 5.5007 on Monday, a drop of 3.02%. A firmer real means each US dollar buys fewer reais, so imports and foreign travel cost Brazilians less than a day earlier.

Is Tropical Storm Vance Still a Threat to Mexico’s Coast?

The US National Hurricane Center (NHC) said no coastal watches or warnings were in effect at 11:00 p.m. ET Tuesday, and it expects little change in strength. It still forecasts 2 to 4 inches (50 to 100 mm) of rain through Thursday in central and southern Sinaloa, western Durango and northwestern Nayarit.

How Long Do I Have to Transfer a Colombian Permanent Visa?

Holders of a permanent-resident visa issued under the earlier rules must transfer it before 31 October 2026, so do not wait until Saturday 31 October. Colombia’s Foreign Ministry says the process is done online.
