International Robotics Festival opens today in Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro will host the International Robotics Festival, organized for the first time in Brazil, from today (5) to next Sunday (7), with free admission.

The public can participate in experimental scientific, artistic, and technical workshops. Organizer Sesi has followed the robotics theme for many years and has participated with its students in international competitions in Houston (USA).

This year, however, for the first time, Sesi was tasked with coordinating an international tournament in Brazil that included 90 teams, 60 of them from abroad, from 38 countries with 990 participants. “It is a very big representation, and we are very happy. It will be an interesting project,” said the operations director of Sesi, Paulo Mól.

At this festival, for the first time in Brazil, there will be a competition for more robust robots weighing 60 kilograms, which is a more comprehensive form of robotics.

The public can visit the competition site from 1 to 4 p.m. today, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday (6), and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday (7).

Robotics testing and competition begin at 10 a.m. this Friday. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 4 p.m. The awards ceremony will take place at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
