Iberia continues to restore its pre-pandemic capacity for this boreal winter season in Brazil. On October 30, it will resume operations to Rio de Janeiro (GIG) with three weekly flights, complementing its service to São Paulo – Guarulhos (GRU).

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, the Spanish airline will offer 6,082 seats per week in 20 operations between Spain and Brazil.

Iberia has restored 69.45% of its pre-pandemic capacity offering and will be the second largest operator in this market with a 33.34% share, where it currently competes with Air Europa and LATAM Airlines.

“At Iberia, we are convinced that for recovery, it is necessary to bet, and we are betting on Brazil, one of our strategic markets in Latin America,” said María Jesús López Solás, Iberia’s Commercial Director, Network Development and Alliances.

“Indeed, we have not yet recovered the capacity we offered before the pandemic, but it gives us immense joy to recover our flights to Rio de Janeiro, and we continue to work with the same commitment and enthusiasm that we have shown throughout these 76 years since our first flight,” added López Solás.

Brazil was one of the key markets in recovering Iberia’s long-haul market after the pandemic outbreak. On October 25, 2020, the airline restored its operation to São Paulo – Guarulhos (GRU), one of the first routes it resumed in Latin America.
