Transmissora Aliança de Energia Elétrica (Taesa) reported a net profit of R$ 200.6 million ($35.2 million) in the fourth quarter of 2024, 32.5% lower than the net gain of R$ 297.4 million ($52.2 million) in the same period of 2023, according to financial statements submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) this Tuesday.

The values refer to those attributable to controlling shareholders. Net operating revenue decreased 0.5% between the two periods, from R$ 583.9 million ($102.4 million) to R$ 581 million ($101.9 million), indicating relative stability in main operations despite the decline in profit.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) stood at R$ 421.6 million ($74 million) in the last three months of 2024, compared to EBITDA of R$ 476.1 million ($83.5 million) a year earlier, a decrease of 11.5%. This reduction in EBITDA suggests pressures on operating costs and possible challenges in the energy transmission sector during the period.

For the full year 2024, the company recorded a net profit of R$ 991.5 million ($173.9 million), a 7.5% drop from the gain of R$ 1.071 billion ($187.9 million) in 2023; net revenue totaled R$ 2.329 billion ($408.6 million) (a 2.8% decrease from the previous year) and EBITDA totaled R$ 1.871 billion ($328.2 million) (a 6.9% decline).

Taesa, one of the main companies in the electricity transmission sector in Brazil, has faced a challenging scenario in 2024, with pressures on its operating margins that were reflected in quarterly and annual results.

The company maintains its strategic position in the transmission market, an essential sector for Brazilian energy infrastructure, despite the less favorable results in this period.

Profarma Group Records Profit of R$ 35.5 Million ($6.2 Million) in Q4, Up 25.1%

Grupo Profarma recorded a profit of R$ 35.5 million ($6.2 million) in the fourth quarter of last year, representing a 25.1% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Recurring net profit was R$ 46 million ($8.1 million), an increase of 78.6% in the quarterly comparison, showing a significant improvement in the profitability of main operations.

Grupo Profarma’s consolidated net revenue totaled R$ 3.02 billion ($529.8 million) in the last quarter of 2024, up 36.7%. This significant growth demonstrates the strong expansion of the company’s operations in the Brazilian pharmaceutical sector.

The group’s result is composed of Profarma Distribuição and the pharmaceutical retail chain Rede d1000. Profarma Distribuição’s gross revenue grew 36.7% on the same basis of comparison, to R$ 3.33 billion ($584.2 million). The segment’s recurring EBITDA was R$ 73.7 million ($12.9 million), up 23.3%.

The d1000 network recorded a 20% growth in gross revenue, to R$ 583.2 million ($102.3 million). The business division’s recurring EBITDA totaled R$ 17.4 million ($3.1 million) between October and December, up 27.8%, demonstrating improvement in the retail segment’s operating margins.

Grupo Profarma’s EBITDA totaled R$ 115.9 million ($20.3 million) between October and December, up 3% compared to the same period in 2023. Recurring EBITDA grew 16.8%, to R$ 85.8 million ($15.1 million), with a recurring EBITDA margin of 2.8%, a loss of 0.5 percentage points.

In the earnings report, Grupo Profarma states that the company grew, reduced leverage to 1.7 times the ratio between net debt and EBITDA, and approved payment of R$ 70.5 million ($12.4 million) in dividends, signaling confidence in financial sustainability and value creation for shareholders.

This positive performance follows the trend already observed in the third quarter of 2024, when the company reported revenue of R$ 2.60 billion ($456.1 million) (up 13% year-on-year) and net profit of R$ 49 million ($8.6 million) (up 52%), with an improvement in profit margin from 1.4% to 1.9%.

Fras-le Reports R$ 135 Million ($23.7 Million) Profit and R$ 1.1 Billion ($193 Million) Revenue in Q4

Fras-le Mobility reported a profit of R$ 135.1 million ($23.7 million) in the fourth quarter, a 43.8% increase compared to the profit in the same period of 2023.

The result was driven by the strong 49.4% growth in net revenue, which totaled R$ 1.1 billion ($193 million) in the quarter, reflecting the successful strategy of business diversification and strong demand for its products.

The company’s revenue in the domestic market totaled R$ 668.6 million ($117.3 million), up 20.4%. In the foreign market, there was a jump of 136.4%, to R$ 439.2 million ($77.1 million), highlighting the success of the company’s internationalization strategy.

The company highlights that the port crisis faced in the third quarter of 2024 stimulated the American market to replenish safety stocks, a factor that benefited exports from Brazil. In addition, improved appetite for imported products in Argentina and the advancement of the US dollar also contributed to the result.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) stood at R$ 220.4 million ($38.7 million) between October and December, up 94.8%. The EBITDA margin was 19.9%, up 4.6 percentage points, demonstrating a significant improvement in operational efficiency and cash generation capacity.

For the full year, the company had a profit of R$ 374.7 million ($65.7 million), a decrease of 3.6%. In the same period, revenue was R$ 3.96 billion ($694.7 million), a growth of 17%.

Fras-le recorded strong performance in its friction materials segment, with revenue growth of 14.6% in 2024, while the brake systems components division grew 16.5%, and the suspension, steering, and powertrain components segment increased 18.8%.

Fras-le’s positive performance in the fourth quarter of 2024 reflected its strong position in the global market, particularly in the automotive sector, taking advantage of opportunities in both the domestic market and exports, despite the logistical and economic challenges faced throughout the year.
