The Vote Is Set for Thursday

Grenada, an island state in the eastern Caribbean, holds a Grenada general election on Thursday, 5 November 2026, for all 15 seats in its House of Representatives, the elected lower house. Polls are expected to run from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET, which is 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time.

Grenada does not use daylight saving time, and the US East Coast returned to standard time before the vote, so the one-hour gap holds. We could not reach the Parliamentary Elections Office, the state body that runs the vote, to confirm the hours at the time of writing.

Police officers had a special voting day on Monday, 2 November, three days before the 5 November general vote. We found no turnout figure or report on how that day went.

In 2022, 914 police officers were on the special voting list, according to the Parliamentary Elections Office list. Those ballots were counted in each constituency on general polling day, so the police vote is not known in advance.

What Is at Stake

All 15 seats are decided by first-past-the-post voting in single-member constituencies, and a party needs eight seats to form a government. Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell called the vote almost a year before the October 2027 constitutional deadline.

In 2022 the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by Mitchell, won nine seats on 51.84% of the vote and ended the tenure of the New National Party (NNP). The NNP won the other six seats.

This is the first election in decades in which the NNP campaigns without Keith Mitchell, a longtime former prime minister who is not related to the current one. He marked 42 years as a parliamentarian at a special sitting on 1 October and has retired from politics.

Who Is on the Ballot

A total of 46 candidates were nominated across the 15 constituencies on 15 October. Mitchell's NDC faces the NNP, now led by Emmalin Pierre, the first woman to lead the party into a general election since its formation in August 1984.

Pierre's "Better Grenada" campaign pledges to remove value-added tax (VAT) on electricity and sugar, abolish the water levy and exempt tips, gratuities and bonuses from tax. It also promises to raise the income-tax threshold from EC$3,000 to EC$6,000 (about US$1,110 to US$2,220).

Solar farms to cut electricity costs round out the pledges. The Democratic People's Movement (DPM), a new party led by Peter David, is also listed as a contender.

We have not verified its candidate slate. The Organization of American States (OAS), the Washington-based body of Western Hemisphere governments, will send an observation mission led by Sherry Tross, a former Saint Kitts and Nevis ambassador.

OAS Secretary General Albert Ramdin and Grenada's ambassador to the OAS, Tarlie Francis, signed the deployment's privileges-and-immunities agreement on 23 October in Washington.

Polls and Odds

We found no poll by a named polling institute. The only survey we found is an online, self-selected poll, which is not scientific or representative.
