Crypto Market Retreats as Liquidity and Regulatory Pressures Mount
Official news and technical data show the crypto market entered a rapid pullback over the last 24 hours. Major coins, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, and Cardano, posted sharp declines after weeks of strong gains.
Traders faced a tightening liquidity environment and mounting regulatory uncertainty, which triggered broad selling and deleveraging. Moving averages set the tone. Both daily and intraday charts underline a shifting trend.
Bitcoin, the bellwether, finished at $113,563, near critical support at $112,000. The daily MACD histogram revealed increasing downside momentum as the bearish crossover strengthened. The RSI dropped to 42, signaling growing risk of oversold conditions.
Ethereum closed at $4,178, holding above the immediate support at $4,100. Both coins had attracted record ETF inflows in recent weeks, signaling strong institutional demand, but failed to escape the sector-wide volatility.
Liquidity played a central role in the latest correction. The Global Liquidity Index, represented by the yellow line on the chart, dropped sharply, confirming real capital withdrawal from risk assets.

Risk-off positioning dominated, particularly as additional regulatory talk and macroeconomic anxieties grew. The market braced for direction from the Federal Reserve, with traders linked to ETF flows and options markets paring exposure for now.
Technical indicators, widely regarded by practitioners, support the downtrend narrative. Bollinger Bands widened overnight as market volatility surged, marking a strong move below the lower band.
Support and resistance levels gained prominence; Bitcoin stabilized near $111,134 and $112,000, while Ethereum held $4,100. Volume also spiked during the selloff, confirming the intensity of the deleveraging process.
Altcoins produced mixed results. Cardano recorded the largest drop among major tokens, falling over 8%. Ripple retreated by 4.1%.
Solana recorded a slight gain, while API3 and UMA saw extraordinary rallies, up 62% and 19.7% respectively, as protocol news and external catalysts offset the pressure elsewhere.
Market fundamentals now show whales accumulating Bitcoin, with more than $2.3 billion added since August 13. Ethereum ETF inflows exceeded $3 billion in August alone.
These trends support a longer-term bullish outlook, but they cannot outweigh the immediate technical and macro weaknesses.
Short-term, caution dominates as the charts and news highlight key risks. Bitcoin’s $112,000 and Ethereum’s $4,100 mark critical supports.
If record ETF inflows persist and global liquidity stabilizes, a quick recovery could emerge. Until those signs materialize, traders have moved into defensive positions, waiting for policy and liquidity clarity.
The data and technical charts confirm a clear narrative: after an overheated rally, the crypto market retreated on hard macro signals. Only select altcoins bucked the trend. For now, sentiment is cautious and driven by external risks.
