RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Within the framework of his official visit, Chilean president Sebastián Piñera and his Paraguayan counterpart Mario Abdo Benítez signed a commitment to advance in a free trade agreement (FTA) to come into force before the end of the year.

The presidents agreed to strengthen the projection of the binational agenda in the areas of integration and regional connectivity, trade and business exchange, and technical cooperation between them.

“We hope to advance soon in the signing of the complementary economic agreement currently underway between both governments and that as a result we will be able to sign a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the Republic of Paraguay and Chile, as Chile has with other MERCOSUR countries such as Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, to further facilitate integration and trade processes between the two countries,” said president Abdo Benítez.
