What Las Estrellas de Buena Vista Are

Buena Vista Social Club was a group of veteran Cuban musicians recorded in Havana in 1996 for World Circuit Records, a London label. The label says the album was made in seven days and became the most successful album in the history of Cuban music.

The promoter lists the show as Las Estrellas de Buena Vista and says it brings back “original members” to play the classics of that album. It describes sones, boleros and dance classics, meaning slow and fast Cuban song forms.

The listing names no musician, so we cannot say who will be on stage. That matters because the Buena Vista Social Club name is a registered trade mark of World Circuit, according to the label’s own site.

The label also says its Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club announced a farewell world tour for 2014 and 2015. The Bogotá billing is different from that orchestra, and the promoter does not say whether the label is involved.

For a US fan, the draw of the Buena Vista concert in Bogotá is the repertoire and the room, not a guaranteed line-up. If you want one named singer, wait for the promoter to publish the cast before you buy.

Buena Vista Concert in Bogotá: Date, Venue and Times in US Eastern

The Buena Vista concert in Bogotá is on Saturday 21 November 2026 at 8 p.m. (20:00), according to the Tuboleta listing. The listing gives a doors time of 5 p.m. and a minimum age of 12.

Colombia stays on UTC-5 all year, because it does not change its clocks. On 21 November the United States is on standard time, so New York is on the same clock as Bogotá.

An 8 p.m. start in Bogotá is therefore 8 p.m. in New York and 7 p.m. in Chicago. Los Angeles is three hours behind, so the show starts at 5 p.m. there.

The venue is the Teatro Jorge Eliécer Gaitán on Carrera Séptima in central Bogotá. The city’s arts institute, Idartes, runs it and says its main hall is an amphitheatre-style room for 1,695 people.

The ticket seller sells 1,650 numbered seats for this layout. A doors time of 5 p.m. for an 8 p.m. show is unusual, so check the ticket page again closer to the date.

Buena Vista Concert in Bogotá: Tickets and Prices

Tuboleta, which calls itself Colombia’s leading live-events marketplace, sells Buena Vista concert tickets in Bogotá online. The numbered seats come in five zones, and each price is a base price plus a service fee.

The cheapest zone, the rear balcony, costs COP 170,300 with fees (about US$54 at 3,164 pesos to the dollar). The front balcony is COP 179,500 in total (about US$57).

The boxes, called palcos, cost COP 308,600 in total (about US$98). The rear stalls, called platea posterior, cost COP 337,200 (about US$107).

The front stalls, the best seats in the house, cost COP 445,700 in total (about US$141). The listing shows 623 front stalls, 334 rear stalls, 127 box seats, 344 front balcony seats and 222 rear balcony seats.

The payment line on the page lists only cards issued by Colombian banks, PSE and Addi. PSE is a Colombian bank-transfer system, and Addi is a Colombian instalment-payment service.

That wording suggests a US-issued card may be refused online, but we did not test a purchase. Tuboleta lists a call centre at +57 601 593 6300, which is the place to ask before you travel.

Getting to the Teatro Jorge Eliécer Gaitán

The theatre stands on Carrera Séptima, a street that Idartes calls the cultural corridor of the Séptima. Its forecourt is, in Idartes’ words, a permanent stage for arts events.

International flights land at El Dorado airport on the western side of the city. We did not confirm a travel time or a fare to the theatre, so check a map and the traffic on the day.

Leave early for an evening show in a big city, and plan the ride home before the show. Order a car from a spot a few minutes’ walk from the theatre rather than at the door.

Doors are listed for 5 p.m., three hours before the show. Use the time to eat nearby in daylight and walk in once the foyer opens.

For hotels and neighbourhoods, see our Bogotá city guide. The November events guide lists what else is on in the capital that month.

Safety and Costs for US Visitors

The US State Department rates Colombia at Level 3, “Reconsider Travel”, in an advisory dated 17 April 2025 and still online on 31 October 2026. It says violent crime, like murder, assault and robbery, is common in many areas.

It rates four areas Level 4, “Do not travel”: Arauca, Cauca (except Popayán), Norte de Santander and the Venezuela border. It does not single out Bogotá as a risk area.

The advisory bars US government employees from using street taxis or any public transport that is not prearranged. Visitors can follow the same rule at night by booking a car in advance and avoiding street hails.

At the Buena Vista concert in Bogotá, keep your phone and wallet out of sight and never leave a drink unattended. Agree on a meeting point with your group in case you are separated.

We found no confirmed hotel, meal or taxi prices for the Buena Vista concert in Bogotá weekend, so we quote none. Budget from the ticket total of about US$54 to US$141 and compare costs once you have your seat.

The weekend falls five days before US Thanksgiving on Thursday 26 November, when flights fill up. Book early, and see the Colombian government and State Department pages for entry rules, which this guide does not repeat.
