Brazil’s Central Bank chief sees no significant impact of omicron on the economy yet

By · January 21, 2022 · 1 min read

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The head of Brazil’s Central Bank, Roberto Campos Neto, said Thursday, January 20, that the omicron variant of the coronavirus has not yet had a significant impact on the country’s economy and is not expected to because there are no restrictions on mobility.

Speaking at an internet conference organized by Santander bank, he said that China, on the contrary, has adopted a strict policy to contain the new variant and that the biggest concern would be a supply disruption affecting the global economy.
