The Avianca airplane that ended up in the backyard of a house in Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – An enterprising couple saw an opportunity for a new use for an old Avianca airplane in the small town of Morretes, a coastal city in Paraná State, Brazil.

Many Brazilians were surprised to see that a transport company delivered a full-scale airplane to a house.

It is an Airbus A318 model, better known in the aeronautical trade as ‘Babybus’. It is 31 meters long and 12 meters wide and can carry 126 passengers.

The aircraft is located in the courtyard of the couple’s house, and they plan to turn it into a tourist attraction. Although it looks worn out, they plan to invest a good sum of money to make it as good as new.

Although the Brazilian couple has not revealed their identity to the general public, they are well known in their neighborhood.

They were able to make this purchase because, since 2019, Avianca has been bankrupt in Brazil, and they decided to sell the plane that was not in use since 2018.

Transporting the aircraft to the house’s backyard required a team of specialists such as the Energy Company of Paraná (Copel) and Paraná’s State Police.
