Brazil’s B3 Surges to New Highs as Domestic Fundamentals Outweigh Global Volatility
Brazil’s B3 stock exchange closed the session on July 1, 2025, with the Ibovespa index advancing 1.45% to 138,854.60, according to official exchange data and verified charts.
The market reversed early losses and finished near its intraday high, marking another milestone in a year already notable for robust gains and record-setting performance.
The session opened with caution, as global sentiment wavered following disappointing tariff news from the United States, which initially pressured Brazilian exporters.
However, local fundamentals quickly reasserted themselves. Investors responded to a stronger-than-expected 0.8% rise in the IBC-Br economic activity index for March, which lifted first-quarter growth to 1.3%.
This data reinforced confidence in Brazil’s economic momentum and supported expectations that the Selic rate will remain at a restrictive 14.75%. The Brazilian real strengthened further, closing at 5.43 per dollar, as capital inflows continued and carry trade appeal remained strong.

Market breadth favored the bulls, with 599 stocks advancing, 358 declining, and 55 unchanged. The day’s top performers included MRV Engenharia, which surged 7.60% on sector optimism and solid quarterly results.
Magazine Luiza rose 5.91%, buoyed by a retail rebound, while Azzas 2154 climbed 4.70% after beating earnings expectations. Among large caps, JBS, BRF, and Marfrig gained between 3% and 4.4%, driven by improved beef export prospects and robust earnings.
Gol Linhas Aéreas jumped 12.1% after confirming its Chapter 11 exit plan, energizing the small-cap segment. On the downside, Pet Center Comercio e Participacoes led losses with a 1.51% decline.
It was followed by Companhia Siderurgica Nacional and Usiminas, which fell 0.80% and 0.72%, respectively. These declines reflected ongoing pressure in commodity-linked sectors amid weaker global prices.
Technical analysis of the Ibovespa’s daily and 4-hour charts reveals a market in strong uptrend. Prices closed above key moving averages, including the 50- and 200-day lines, confirming sustained bullish momentum.
The Relative Strength Index (RSI) on both timeframes hovered near 58, indicating positive momentum but not yet signaling overbought conditions. The MACD showed a bullish crossover, with growing histogram bars supporting the upward move.
Bollinger Bands revealed prices pushing against the upper band, suggesting strong buying interest, though a brief consolidation near resistance around 139,000 remains possible.
The Ichimoku Cloud analysis confirmed the bullish structure, with prices well above the cloud on both timeframes. Compared to global peers, Brazil’s Ibovespa outperformed, with US and European indices posting modest gains or slight declines.
The CBOE Brazil ETF Volatility Index rose 4.48% to 25.90, reflecting increased hedging activity as the index approached new highs. The B3’s rally stands on firm domestic ground, supported by resilient economic data and stable policy signals.
Continued foreign inflows have also contributed to the market’s strength. Risks persist from fiscal uncertainty and global trade tensions, but for now, the market’s upward trajectory remains intact.
