Brazilians spent US$9 billion in international travel in 2022, 171% more than last year

The BC (Central Bank) reported this Monday (Oct. 24) that the amount of expenses from January to September is 171% higher than that recorded in the same period last year, of US$3.3 billion.

The amount was also the highest for the period since 2019.

Spending abroad declined during the covid pandemic, which restricted the flow of people between countries. The high dollar also contributed to fewer people making international trips.

Brazilians spent US$907 million on international travel in September. In the same month of 2021, the expenses totaled US$474 million.
