Christ, the Redeemer Cathedral in Rio was illuminated on Thursday night (8) with the colors of the British flag in honor of Queen Elizabeth II, whose death was announced this afternoon.
"The greatest symbol of Brazil, Christ the Redeemer, joins the people of the United Kingdom today in solidarity with her, who was an example of faith, elegance, moderation, balance, and leadership. Rest in peace, Queen Elizabeth II," said the shrine's rector, Father Omar.
