Four dead in new indigenous massacre in Colombia

The “Instituto de Estudios para el Desarrollo y la Paz” (Indepaz) reported on Tuesday (30) the death of four people in a new massacre in the town of Valle del Guamuez in southern Colombia.

Two of the total killed were members of the Awá indigenous community who had been reported missing by Colombian authorities since August 14.

The organization recalled that the “Frente Primero Carolina Ramírez”, the “Comandos Bolivarianos de la Frontera”, as well as other local gangs are active in the area.

The “Sexta División del Ejército Colombiano” is responsible for maintaining security in the area. According to “Indepaz,” this is the seventy-third massacre in 2022.
