During a lecture held at the Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea) on Thursday (Dec. 15), Economy Minister Paulo Guedes said that "Latin America is crumbling under the weight of an ideology," in reference to the populist ultra-leftist policies formed by the São Paulo Forum.
"Socialism based on Marxism is the greatest intellectual blunder society has ever made. It caused 60, 70 million deaths in the great famine in China, 30 million deaths in the great famine in Russia, then another 100 million deaths in the two world wars," he declared.
