GOL Airlines announced a new international route connecting Manaus, the capital of Brazil’s Amazonas state, with Bogotá, Colombia, starting April 2. The airline will operate two direct flights weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays.

This strategic connection enhances access to popular Colombian destinations such as Cartagena de Indias, San Andrés, and Medellín. Travelers gain improved connections to North and Central America through the Bogotá hub.

GOL passengers can reach destinations in Ecuador and Peru more easily thanks to code-share and interline agreements with Avianca. The new route complements GOL’s recently launched Brasilia-Bogotá service, which began operating February 4.

Both routes aim to satisfy growing demand for passenger travel, cargo, and e-commerce between Brazil and Colombia. “The Manaus-Bogotá route serves increasing international travel demand from Amazonas,” said Bruno Balan, GOL’s Executive Manager of Network Planning.

“This move reflects our commitment to network expansion and providing better connectivity throughout the Americas.” Brazil’s Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, highlighted the current strength of Brazilian civil aviation.

He projects a 17% increase in international tourist arrivals by the end of 2024 compared to the previous year. Tourism Minister Celso Sabino noted that GOL‘s initiative supports government efforts to strengthen air connectivity and increase visibility of the Brazilian Amazon region.

GOL Launches New Direct Flights

Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft will serve the route with 176-passenger capacity in international configuration. GOL identifies these planes as the most sustainable models in their fleet.

Flights depart Bogotá on Wednesdays and Sundays at 1:25 PM, arriving in Manaus at 5:30 PM local time. Return flights leave Manaus at 7:45 PM and land at El Dorado Airport in Bogotá at 9:35 PM local time.

In short, the new air bridge strengthens commercial and tourism ties between two key South American destinations. Travelers now enjoy more options for exploring both the Colombian highlands and the Brazilian Amazon.
