This marks the band’s fourth time in the city. They first performed at Circo Voador in 2011, then in 2012 at Imperator. Last year they again played live at Circo Voador in October.
For two of their previous shows, the band arrived in Rio with the help of Queremos, a Rio crowdfunded kickstarter, that connects musicians, agents and fans to work together to book shows. Queremos again helped the band to make a stop in Rio tonight before their appearance at the Popload Festival in São Paulo.
Formed by Kevin Parker in Perth, Australia in 2007, Tame Impala consists of Parker on vocals, gutiar, bass, drums and various other instruments; Jay Watson on drums and guitar, and Dominic Simper on drums and guitar. Cam Avery also provides bass and backing vocals on tour and Julien Barbagallo plays the drums live and also provides backing voacals at live shows.
The band has released two full-lenght studio albums: Innerspeaker in 2010 and Lonerism in 2012.
Before and after the Tame Impala show tonight the RocknBeats party will take place, with DJs Junio Passini, Thiago Burgos, Arlei Hey Hey and Igor Boechat spinning the best of indie rock.

On Wednesday nights in November, the Baile Da Tchuguderia party at Lapa’s Leviano bar is celebrating new music in Rio. Event week Angelo B, Udi Fagundes and Cláudio Costa of the band Gabriel Pensador will play live and welcome a special guest. DJ Márlio will also spin during the night. Additionally, Mondays through Thrusdays Leviano is now hosting Happy Hour from 5PM to 9PM.
