Venezuela appoints a new ambassador to Brazil

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced today the appointment of Manuel Vicente Vadell as the new ambassador of the South American country to the Federative Republic of Brazil, after the reestablishment of diplomatic relations.

Maduro reported, after meeting with Manuel Vicente Vadell, that he decided to “designate him as the new Ambassador of Venezuela in the Federative Republic of Brazil, as of January 1, 2023.”

The president made the announcement this Thursday night through his Twitter account, where he posted a photograph with the diplomat.

Vadell had previously served as Venezuela’s Consul General in São Paulo, Brazil.

The announcement comes after the victory of Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva, on October 30, as president of Brazil and the imminent restoration of relations between the two nations.

Recently, the future Brazilian foreign minister, Mauro Vieira, recently said at a press conference that President-elect Lula instructed him to reestablish relations with the Caribbean country.

“We will do it on January 1 by sending a business manager to reopen the embassy and later appoint an ambassador,” Vieira reported.
