Mozambican government exempts 28 countries from tourism and business visas

The Mozambican government approved on Tuesday 14 a decree that exempts a list of 28 countries from the need for tourism and business visas when entering the country.

According to a statement from the Council of Ministers to which Forbes Lusophone Africa had access, the exemption will apply to visitors holding ordinary passports and allow a stay of 30 days, renewable for an additional 60 days.

“Travelers will be required to register on the e-visa platform at least 48 hours before travel and pay a processing fee of MZN650 (US$10.2),” the statement read.

The countries included in the approved list are Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Ivory Coast, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States of America.

The e-visa platform is one of the new features of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs New Consular Management Model.

It gives continuity to the effort of digitizing all the documentary processing of visa applications.

According to the Government of Mozambique, the measure contributes to the operationalization of the National Implementation Plan of the Global Compact for Migration (Resolution of the Council of Ministers No. 141/2019, approved on August 20).
