The “Ilha do Japão” a “famous people’s island” on the coast of Rio’s Angra dos Reis is for sale

The luxurious and secluded Ilha do Japão (Japan’s Island) on the coast of Angra dos Reis (RJ), one of the exclusive destinations beloved of famous people – Bruna Marquezine, Giovanna Ewbank and Bruno Gagliasso are among its most illustrious guests – is for sale.

The piece of land full of privacy and comfort, which can only be accessed by helicopter or boat, can be purchased for R$74 million (US$14), according to high-end real estate agent Muller Imóveis.

The 2.5-hectare property has accommodations – five bedrooms and seven bathrooms – for up to 10 people, an extensive preserved green area, and a private beach with crystal clear water.

The main house and the three bungalows have architecture inspired by Bahia and Indonesia, their own vegetable garden, and utilities (such as air conditioning) powered by solar energy.

The mansion has two suites – including a duplex – with king size bed, living room, full kitchen, lounge, indoor pool, and dining room on the second floor with panoramic views and cascading carp pond.

At the heart of this house is an original rock structure from the island.

The three bungalows have, besides king beds, stone showers, and large floor-to-ceiling windows with privileged views of the island.

There is also a covered lounge (which can be opened) with a swimming pool, barbecue area, stone jacuzzi for ten people, audio system, three kayaks, and three stand-up paddle boards.

Guests who spend a season there still enjoy five-star service from a team of 12 people, who also offer guidance regarding the activities in its prehistoric rock formations.

About 6.5 km from Angra, the rental of Japan Island usually includes a “VIP” transfer of about 35 to 40 minutes by helicopter from the Galeão Airport, according to its official website.

Other guests who have experienced the famous ones consider the island to be “mystical” and praise the programming of trails to Ilha Grande, Paraty, daily massages, or yoga sessions on the perimeter.

The menu served is based on local ingredients and highlights the flavors of Brazilian cuisine, washed down with caipirinhas.

Committing to a minimum stay of seven days is necessary to get to know Japan Island before it is sold out. A package of tours and activities and all food and drinks are included, except wines and luxury cocktails.

Visitors can also hire surf lessons, diving, zip-lining, and a visit to Christ the Redeemer by helicopter.
