Hipnosis Festival 2026, a showcase for psychedelic and experimental rock, takes place at Quarry Studios in southern Mexico City on Saturday 7 November. Three US acts lead the bill, Future Islands, Sonic Youth co-founder Kim Gordon and Melvins, with tickets sold through Fever.

For visitors from the United States, the weekend can be doubled, because Mac DeMarco plays the same site on Friday 6 November. The edition is the ninth, and founder Fernando Fonseca told Diario de México it also marks 20 years of Indie Rocks!, his music magazine.

Who Plays Hipnosis Festival 2026

Future Islands, the US synth-pop band fronted by singer Sam Herring, headlines in the year it marks two decades together. “We were looking for a standard-bearer for these 20 years on the road, and it lined up with Future Islands,” Fonseca told Diario de México.

Kim Gordon co-founded Sonic Youth, while Diario de México calls Melvins essential to the rise of heavy, experimental rock in the US. The Fever lineup adds The Lemon Twigs, Connan Mockasin, Jonathan Bree, Levitation Room, Wine Lips, YHWH Nailgun, Laboratorios Moreno and Fontän.

Diario de México expects Future Islands to play hits such as ‘Seasons’ and ‘A Dream of You and Me’. Fonseca recalled earlier gambles, such as a Primus booking: “Nobody was going to bring Primus to Mexico,” he said.

Why Hipnosis Matters in Mexico City

Hipnosis is the festival of Indie Rocks!, an independent Mexican music magazine that Fonseca founded in 2006 and runs as chief executive. He launched the festival in 2017 and calls it “a 100% Mexican project” run by Mexican families who make their living from it.

“We differ from what a festival is today, this showroom of brands,” he told the paper, setting Hipnosis against brand-driven mega events. “For us it is a curation, a playlist of bands worth showing.”

The festival moves often, and Fonseca said permit problems have forced changes of site from year to year. Its two-day 2025 edition was held at Estadio Fray Nano, Chilango reported, while 2026 returns to a single day.

Diario de México describes Quarry Studios as a “fantasy volcanic space” and says the festival is returning there. The site stands at Boulevard Gransur 100 in Coyoacán, close to the Gran Sur shopping centre and the Periférico Sur ring road.

Tickets, Prices and the Mac DeMarco Night

Fever, the official seller, lists general admission at MXN 1,600 (about US$88) and VIP at MXN 2,400 (about US$133) in the current phase. Chilango and Grupo Animal both report that service charges come on top, and Sopitas gives the same two prices.

VIP adds rest areas, premium restrooms and exclusive bars, according to the Fever listing. While the offer lasts, it also covers “Road to Hipnosis: Dreaming”, a Mac DeMarco show at the venue on Friday 6 November at 7 p.m.

Holders of general tickets can add the Friday show as an extra in the Fever ticket menu. Fever’s Mac DeMarco page says the tour celebrates 20 years of the Indie Rocks! magazine.

Grupo Animal reports that tickets are also sold without service charges at the Foro Indie Rocks box office, at Zacatecas 39-A in Roma Norte. It gives the opening hours as 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The event FAQ linked from Fever says all sales are final and tickets cannot be refunded or changed. Tickets can be passed to another person for free in the Fever app, and the QR code also arrives by email.

Getting to Quarry Studios

Chilango suggests Metro Line 3, the green line, as far as Universidad station. From there, a bus on the route to Moras stops at Imán–Gran Sur, a few metres from the venue.

A taxi or app ride from Universidad station costs about MXN 40 to 50 (about US$2 to US$3), Chilango estimates. Drivers should aim for Periférico Sur, reached from the centre via Calzada de Tlalpan and Viaducto Tlalpan.

After the last act, an app-booked taxi is the simplest way back to hotels in Roma, Condesa or central Coyoacán. Agree on a meeting point with friends in advance, because large crowds can slow mobile data.

What It Means for You

US citizens and permanent residents need no visa for tourist visits of up to 180 days, Mexico’s Foreign Ministry says on its consulate pages. On arrival, immigration issues the Forma Migratoria Múltiple, the entry form that states how long you may stay.

On 7 November, Mexico City is one hour behind New York and level with Chicago. US clocks fall back on Sunday 1 November, so the 2 p.m. session start is 3 p.m. Eastern.

At 18.10 pesos to the dollar on 9 October, a general ticket costs about US$88 and a VIP ticket about US$133. Food and drink are on sale inside, the event FAQ says, and merchandise is sold at a shop on site.

The festival runs from the afternoon into the night, and evenings at Mexico City’s altitude can turn cool after sunset, so pack a layer. Keep phones and cash in front pockets, as in any large crowd.

Fans flying in can pair the Friday night with Saturday’s festival at the same address and stay two nights. Hotels in Coyoacán, the borough that contains Quarry Studios, sit closer to the venue than those in Roma or Condesa.

What Is Not Known

Set times, door times and the stage layout have not been published. The event FAQ says the list of banned items, including any rules on smoking and vaping, will be announced later on social media.

Mexican outlets, including Chilango, Grupo Animal and Diario de México on 7 October, have named Sunn O))) as part of the festival. The band does not appear in the lineup on Fever’s ticket page, and no change has been announced.

It is not confirmed whether the main area at Quarry Studios is open-air or covered. The event FAQ still describes an outdoor festival at Estadio Fray Nano, last year’s venue, so it may not reflect the new site.

Fever shows an earlier “Early” price phase and the current “Progresión” phase. It does not say when, or whether, prices rise again before 7 November.

What Comes Next

The organiser says venue rules will follow on the festival’s social media channels. Until then, the Fever page remains the reference for the lineup, prices and the Friday add-on.
